Lavender - a natural remedy for migraine


Lavender is grown worldwide mainly as an ornamental plant, but this plant has been always known for its medicinal properties. The ancient Romans were bathed in scented baths in which they added lavender oil, while the Greeks used for the treatment of respiratory diseases. In the 18th century, during the plague epidemic, people inhale the essential of lavender oil, because they believed that the scent will protect them from infection.

This plant is used for preparing teas, tinctures and herbal drops, essential oils, bath or inhalation, and its effect is amplified if it was mixed with chamomile, rosemary or sage. Lavender can be useful to stomach and uterus, can prevent flatulence, stimulates the secretion of urine, and helps in case of painful menstruation.
Lavender is also used in the treatment of neurological disease, arrhythmia, hypertension, skin diseases and burns, athlete's foot, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, inflammation of the throat, mouth infections, coughs, sinusitis, conjunctivitis, cystitis, dysmenorrhea, ear pain and unpleasant smell.



Lavender is a common ingredient in preparations of cosmetics, soothes, strengthens and can be useful if you want to refresh your skin. Also, reducing perspiration improves hair growth and strengthens nails.

Relieves depression and anxiety

Numerous scientific studies have confirmed what the ancient physicians knew very well - lavender calms the nerves, causing the aromatic dry flowers placed in pillows or enjoyed in the bags which were kept beside the bed as a remedy for insomnia. Also, inhalation and massage with essential oil of this herb relieves depression and anxiety, relieves headaches and migraines combat.

Just put a few drops of oil in a pan of hot water and inhale the medicinal and relaxing steam. Inhalation of essential oil acts as a tonic to the whole organism refreshes and relieves fatigue, and the same effect is achieved and if it is poured into the bath.

Irreplaceable spice

Lavender is used as a condiment for grilled meat or cakes, as well as for flavoring sugar, vinegar and oil. * Cookies with lavender Necessary ingredients: 125 g butter, 200 g flour, 100 g sugar, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons melted honey, 1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers, 1/2 sachet baking powder, 1 tsp vanilla-sugar icing.

Directions: whisk eggs with sugar, then add remaining ingredients and then knead the dough. Stretch the dough to be about 5 mm thick, and then remove the mold cookies. Bake in preheated oven at 180 * C for about 25 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar and vanilla-lavender flowers.
