The results of numerous scientific studies have shown that nutrition
can effect on the brain function, memory and concentration. While some foods
provide good blood circulation in the central nervous system and promote its
function, others have the opposite effect and should be avoided. Foods
containing saturated fats (meat, whole milk, cheese, butter ...) decreases
blood flow to the brain and disrupts memory. Alcohol has a similar effect, especially
if consumed over a longer period of time.
Brewer's yeast
As rich in vitamins B group, amino acids, iron, selenium,
zinc, magnesium, potassium, sodium and other useful minerals, brewer's yeast
has a wide range of useful properties. Therefore, it should be represented in
the daily diet, especially recommended for people who are at increased risk of
developing diseases of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
Due to the high content of vitamin B, yeast relieves
symptoms caused by diseases of the nervous system and ensures its proper
function, relieves psychological disturbances, fatigue and depression. It also
improves memory and concentration, strengthen the blood test and treat anemia.
Can be used as a powder as a seasoning, or in pill form.
Nuts
Since ancient times nuts were considered as the ideal food
for the brain. It is known that the nuts (like almonds and hazelnuts) is an
excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, necessary for the proper functioning
of brain cells and neurotransmitters responsible for mood changes (because they
may be of great help in case of depression).
However, this beneficial fruit should be consumed in
moderation and in a raw state - it is very caloric. Daily needs for omega-3
fatty acids satisfy seven whole of nuts, preferably with breakfast cereal or as
a good snack.
Algae
Seaweeds contain plenty of nutrients - sodium, calcium,
chlorine, potassium, iodine, iron, copper, zinc and selenium. Algae’s are rich
and in other substances that stimulate brain function: vitamins C, B12 and
carotene, and linoleic and alpha-linolenic fatty acids. Algae’s are available
in all health food stores.
Rosemary
Rosemary is ancient symbol of wisdom. For centuries it was
used to enhance brain function, and its effect was confirmed by recent
scientific studies. This aromatic spice has CA, a powerful antioxidant that
neutralizes the effects of free radicals responsible for damaging the brain and
protects against stroke and neuro degeneration, a preventive effect on the
occurrence of Alzheimer's disease. Rosemary is considered to be the elixir of
youth because it stimulates hair growth, improves circulation, helps prevent
heart disease.
Cocoa
It is proven that people who regularly drink a beverage made
from cacao fruit tree rarely suffer from cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Science has confirmed the beneficial effect of cocoa ingredients - flavanols,
an antioxidant that stimulates blood flow to the brain and, consequently, a
positive influence on cognitive abilities, and protect against dementia. Cocoa
is a source of mental health and mood and unlike synthetic drugs does not cause
side effects.
